World of Warcraft is one of the most iconic games of all time. This game changed gaming history forever. Even though Blizzard is not what it used to be, we still thank them for the memories they have given us. World of Warcraft player subscription counts reached more than 10 million players during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. However, even though Cataclysm was ok, afterward the game had ups and downs until the current expansion. The current expansion is Battle for Azeroth and it was not a very nice experience overall. This was maybe the second-worst expansion that we saw from World of Warcraft franchise. But even though things did not look very good Blizzard managed to double their active subscription count. How did they do that?

Well, the answer was simple, World of Warcraft Classic. This was our gate back to the good old days of World of Warcraft. Even though we are still trying to mend the wounds of the last 3-4  years the World of Warcraft news even made everyone excited. Because this game had soul, players had to interact with each other and you could not leave each other even, because the content was much better and harder. According to the Blizzard player numbers with active subscription doubled since the Q2 2019 to Q4 2019. This insane trend is because of WoW Classic.

When we first heard about World of Warcraft Classic, we feared that after 2 months it would be a dead game. Because nostalgia is a hard thing to maintain. Most of us who played World of Warcraft in 2004 have jobs and families now. It is harder to find time to play games, but the World of Warcraft community stuck around by the looks of it and World of Warcraft is having a reform era. Blizzard has to see what made WoW: Classic so special. Of course, a lot more was different in 2004 no loot boxes, no microtransactions and many more things simply did not exist and it was us and the developers and they always delivered fully polished games, because there was no early access periods.

Blizzard also announced that they will continue to support both versions of WoW for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, World of Warcraft Vision’s of N’zoth is out and it is one of the most interesting content we have seen for some time. This content is making way towards the next expansion called World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. The release date for this expansion is currently only stated as 2020. However, we can expect it in the Summer of 2020. Blizzard would not want to compete with other games in Q4 of 2020. If you want to try World of Warcraft: Classic all you need to do is to subscribe through Battle.Net. This subscription will give you access to both versions of the game. We just hope that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will be a much better expansion than Battle for Azeroth.
