When we take a look at the last decade Torchlight is one of the most iconic games. Torchlight was released in 2009, it was successful and sold more than 2 million copies. Several years later in 2012 Torchlight 2 was released and that game was also really good and got critically acclaimed. Even though both games sold very well we did not hear news about Torchlight until last year. Last Year we learned that there is another Torchlight game under development called Torchlight: Frontiers. However, after some consideration, the developers decided to change the name to Torchlight 3. But this time the game is not being developed by the same company. Sadly, Runic Games was dissolved in 2017, and Torchlight 3 is being developed by Echtra Games. Let us take a look at the details about Torchlight 3.
Torchlight 3 is taking place in Novastraia once again and it has been a long time since the events of Torchlight 2. Ember Empire is declining around this time and players need to defend against Netherim and its allies. The game will follow the original top-down isometric look of the Torchlight series, this will allow players to control and interact with the world more fluidly. Players will be able to play with their friends. However also one of the best features of Torchlight 3, you do not need a constant internet connection, this is very rarely done by modern-day games. Also, on top of these microtransactions will be removed from the game. The sad news is, the game is not free-to-play anymore.
In Torchlight 3 players will travel to the Frontier. You will be able to craft materials and find magical maps to enter specific dungeons. In this game, players will be able to build their fort, these forts are where players can improve their gear, so it works like a hub. Players can also create pet stables in their Forts. Currently, 3 new classes is coming into the game, these are,
- Dusk Mage: A magic-based hero, using both Darkness and Light.
- Forged: These players can build up steam to destroy their opponents.
- Railmaster: These players can use their trains to annihilate their enemies.
There will be also pets in the game. These pets are pretty similar to World of Warcraft pets, however, they also give major buffs to the players. Players can collect these pets and store them in their fort if needed. “Fame” is also another factor in the game, Fame is used for one thing to complete the contracts. Players can purchase things with their fame from armor to decorations to their forts. In this game, the enchanting will be much more customized for players, players can do enchanting to their various items from their Forts. Current skill progression is 1 level 1 skill point-based, however, we can expect some changes into this system before the release. Also, there is level scaling as you progress so wherever you go monster will be around your level.
