Wolcen is one of the hot games for MMO players right now developed by Wolcen Studios. The reason is simple, after a long Steam Early access run Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is here and the game is a fairly interesting one. Of course, there are some troubles with the servers but the developers stated that they are addressing these issues. The game has an interesting story with you being one of the 3 survivors of the massacre at Castagath. Players should know that compared to other MMO’s Wolcen does not need hundreds of hours of gameplay. The game is fluid and fun, let us take a look at 5 tips for Wolcen: Lord of Mayhem.

Character Creation

Players start the game and like every MMO we are going to create a character for us to play. Generally, the characters’ choices will be static and will not change throughout the game, if you are a melee person you will stay as a melee person. However, with Wolcen this is different, players are able to create their character and later you are given one of 3 choices, these classes do not affect anything besides your starting weapon. This means that every player can use the same spells and the same weapons. Wolcen did a pretty good job with this and did not force players to choose between classes.

Combat at Wolcen

Combat at Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is familiar to us. The game’s combat system revolves around Willpower and Rage. The weapon choices of players change the values of these resources, players will lose Rage and gain Willpower is they use staffs. However, most of the weapons will build Rage and lose Willpower. The skills in the game require a certain weapon to be equipped in order to improve that skill. So basically you will use basic attacks to build Rage or Willpower and later you can use these resources to use your abilities and skills.

Skills

There are over 40 skills in Wolcen. The skills are dependant on weapon types. So for example, if you are using an Axe you can only use the melee weapons skill line. There is one exception to this, and that is off-hand Catalysts. The catalysts allow you to mix staff skill lines with any other skill set, as long as you are not using a two-handed weapon. The Passive Skill Tree in the game is insane and highly customizable. Players do not need to use the skills to level them up as long you have them on your bar, the skills will level up.

Potions

As we have said before your basic attacks will fill your skill resources. However, sometimes you may be in a very dire situation. Do not be afraid to use potions because they fill pretty quickly and may help you get out of bad situations. These potions can fill your resources much faster than your basic attacks especially if you spam them. Players can fill these by killing enemies.
