The MMORPG world has a lot of themes. This game genre is the at depicting worlds and immersing players in it. We have Sci-fi MMOs, we have Medieval MMOs, etc. However, the amount of truly anime-themed MMOs are very low. But hopefully soon with Blue Protocol, this is about to change. BlueProtocol is in development and the developers are Bandai Namco. Until recently we all thought that the game is going to available only to the Japanese market however, recently they hired a localization director to their ranks. This is very interesting and there are also no IP bans for the beta.
Currently, Blue Protocol is accepting closed-beta with open beta following soon afterward. The game will accept 50000 closed beta applications. So What is Blue Protocol? Blue Protocol is an anime-themed MMORPG. The game does not have an open world there are zones for leveling and a huge city for players to mingle. You can enter 6 player dungeons with your friends right away. The game as we have said before does not have an open world, but it does look gorgeous. Honestly, this type of anime game does look very good in a video game. The artwork and the movements are all very good.
There are 4 classes in Blue Protocol currently. The names of the classes are a direct translation from Japanese and subject to change. The first class is called Aegis Fighter, they can use shields as a defensive weapon. They do look like tanks in the game. Twin Striker is another class, they excel at DPS and can dual wield weapons. Blast Archer the first ranged DPS class in the game. There are weak spots on the creatures which you can exploit as a Blast Archer. Finally, we have Spellcasters, they can use fire, ice, and lightning as their power and attack from range.
Character Customization at Blue Protocol is also another feature. Players will be able to create their own characters from eye shape to body build. Players will be able to access through zones not bypassing from a barrier or a door. You simply walk over a line and there is a very fast loading screen and you will be moving through zones. The loading screens are very short so it does feel a little bit like open-world still. There are mounts in the game so this can give you an idea of how big the zones are. There is also a day-night cycle every half an hour.
Like every Japanese game, we can expect a deep story from Blue Protocol. The number of in-game scenes will be a lot most probably to immerse the players into the world. The UI of the game does look very clean and players will not be seeing thousands of tabs open on their screen. Generally, you will only see the related info on whatever you are doing. Blue Protocol release date is currently unknown, but we can expect Q4 2020 release or early 2021.
